Today, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed a lawsuit against fossil fuel companies for blocking clean energy development and driving up costs for Michigan families. In response, Evergreen Action State Advocacy Director Courtney Brady released the following statement:

“Attorney General Nessel is taking on a system that puts fossil fuel profits ahead of Michigan families, and we applaud her for it. For decades, oil and gas corporations have rigged the system to drive up costs, block deployment of cheap, clean energy, and stick households with the bill. And at a time when families are struggling with rising costs, affordable energy and reliability must be the top priority. This lawsuit sends a clear message that price gouging and cartel-like behavior have no place in Michigan’s energy system. We need more leaders willing to take bold action to protect consumers and unlock access to affordable and reliable clean energy. Holding Big Oil accountable is how we get there.”
