Following Vice President Kamala Harris’s unveiling of her economic policy plan, Evergreen Action Executive Director Lena Moffitt released the following statement:
“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz get it: Investing in clean energy means lower costs for Americans. The economic policies Vice President Harris outlined today exhibit the kind of bold leadership we need to invest in the American people, expand clean, affordable energy, and secure the country’s place as a global leader. Her commonsense efforts to cut red tape across multiple sectors are vital to accelerating the expansion of clean, affordable energy and lower household energy costs while creating millions of good-paying union jobs. And by modernizing and reducing climate pollution from critical sectors like steel and iron and investing in cutting-edge zero-emission technologies, her America Forward Tax Credit will revitalize industrial communities and ensure American industry leads the world in clean manufacturing.
“Thanks to the historic achievements of the Biden-Harris administration, a future President Harris will have a solid foundation to continue advancing a fair, prosperous clean energy economy. This plan shows Vice President Harris’ vision to implement and build on the Inflation Reduction Act, while Donald Trump would tear down progress and worsen the climate crisis. Harris’ economic plan, which reflects many of the actionable, achievable policies we’ve called for, demonstrates her deep commitment to climate action and reinforces that climate leadership and economic growth can—and must—go hand in hand.”
Earlier this year, Evergreen published “Evergreen Action Plan 2.0: The Promise of Continued Climate Leadership,” our new plan mapping out the next phase of policy to avoid the worst of the climate crisis while seizing opportunities to lower costs, create jobs, and advance justice in the clean energy economy. The plan is a follow-up to the original Evergreen Action Plan, which helped set the agenda for the most impactful administration tackling the climate crisis in U.S. history. You can read more about the plan here.
